Beyoncé Gets Blasted For ‘Cowboy Carter Tour’ Outfit That Looks Exactly Like The Russian Flag

Beyonce

Well, that probably shouldn’t have made it to the stage…

Of course, Beyoncé is currently on the road for her Cowboy Carter tour, which kicked off in May in Los Angeles, in support of her latest “country-inspired” album. It’s already had a few notable moments, and recently, Beyoncé had a malfunction while singing “16 CARRIAGES” in a red Cadillac convertible that was flown around the stadium, as she’s done during all of her shows on the tour… she had to stop in the middle of the song because it started tilting and she was obviously afraid she was going to fall out.

But the most recent controversy comes from one of her shows in the Washington, D.C. area this week at Northwest Stadium in Landover, Maryland, where she debuted a very interesting look, to say the least…

A now-viral post on X from a fan page shows the mega pop star wearing a white jumpsuit of sorts, with very long, red, white and blue fringe that definitely looks exactly like a Russian flag:

I’m thinking it was supposed to be very Americana-inspired, as well as her home state of Texas, as many of her looks from this tour have been red, white and blue, but yeah… someone on her team clearly isn’t well-versed in the basics of history, and obviously I don’t know what the flag of every single country looks like off the top of my head, but this one feels… extremely obvious.

Here’s a look at another recent tour outfit, which is similar in terms of the American-themed colors:

Of course, the problem with social media is that it lacks context… like the fact that Beyonce was surrounded by American flags during this exact performance:

But obviously, being that Russia is Russia, and in the midst of a war with Ukraine (I’m not going to get into all of the United States/Russian relations in this post, or Russia’s issues independent of the U.S.), but many online were NOT thrilled with this look.

It’s clearly just an oversight, though these types of things are generally very thought-out and meticulously combed through so I don’t know how professionals at this level make this kind of mistake. And of course, this isn’t some kind of pro-Russia statement, but in today’s world and political climate, you already know how people are going to react to it. Especially, Beyonce’s more Liberal fans who probably have the Ukrainian flag in their X bios.

Needless to say, she got blasted for this one:

Talk about a PR nightmare…

This also comes on the heels of her Buffalo Soldiers t-shirt fiasco, which also caught the ire of fans. Long story short, the Buffalo Soldiers were an all-black army unit formed in the late 1800s, but the issue with wearing the shirt is that they historically fought against Native American tribes amid Western expansion. So… people were mad about that too…

On the one hand, cancel culture is stupid and so are the people who think every single thing is “problematic,” but on the other hand, it’s hilarious when cancel culture comes for one of their own. Looks like on too many people working for Beyoncé skipped history class… might be time to at least add someone with a basic history degree to the payroll.
