One of the hardest working artists in country music is at it again.
Over the past decade, few artists have produced the kind of catalog that Cody Jinks has, both in quality and quantity. Since the release of his critically-acclaimed Adobe Sessions in 2015, Cody has operated a steady clip of nearly an album a year, following it up with I’m Not The Devil in 2016, 2018’s Lifers, two albums in 2019, a couple live and/or unplugged projects, a Lefty Frizzell cover album and a few more studio albums… it’s a catalog that I’d put up against anybody in country music over the past 10 years.
And remember… he’s done all of this while touring his ass off, and running one of the truly independent operations in country music. I say this all the time, but if you’re just starting out in country music, and don’t want to play the label game… Cody Jinks is the blueprint. The definition of authentic, in a genre that craves it, it just simply doesn’t get much better than Cody Jinks.
But today, Cody Jinks has officially announced another brand new album, In My Blood, set for release on July 25th, with the lead single, “Found” set to drop this coming Friday.
Produced by Joshua Thompson and Charles Godfrey, In My Blood marks Jinks’ 11th career studio album and as always, we can expect Jinks to bring his signature baritone vocals, honky tonk sound and captivating lyricism to the table. The album will dive into themes of “redemption, resilience, and the working-class struggle… an exploration into a new chapter of the country singer’s life – where he’s been and where he’s going.”
Of the title track, which features Blackberry Smoke frontman Jinks calls it the next chapter of Change The Game, a step forward for the torch-bearing Texas troubadour:
“I think that ‘In My Blood,’ the song itself could be taken as the next chapter of ‘Change the Game.’ We know what we did. We know where we’ve been. We know what we’ve done. ‘In My Blood’ is why we keep doing it.”
