Not an AOC fan, eh?
Democrats have had a hard time finding a new leader for their party after Kamala Harris lost the 2024 presidential election to President Donald Trump. There are many who still consider Harris to be the leader of the party, but she’s pretty much been MIA since her election loss.
Tim Walz seems to want to be the face of Democrats, but nobody really takes Governor Jazz Hands seriously when he says things like he could kick Trump supporter’s asses. And Chuck Schumer is the highest ranking Democrat in Congress, but he’s an old white guy who’s been in politics since Moby Dick was a guppy, so the party would likely prefer to have a fresh face as they seek to reshape their image ahead of the next election.
Several Democrats from the House of Representatives have also stepped up to try to become the face of the new Democrat party, including progressive Congresswomen like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett. And if you ask Republicans, they’re perfectly happy with those two serving as the leaders of the Democrat party.
The controversial representatives have a history of inflammatory language and putting their foot in their mouth, like Crockett recently proclaiming that the United States needs illegal immigrants because black people are done picking cotton.
No, seriously:
NEW: Rep. Jasmine Crockett suggests the United States needs illegal immigrants because "we done picking cotton."
Crockett made the argument that the U.S. needs immigrants for farming while speaking at Grace Baptist Church in Connecticut.

But anyway, one of those Republicans who would be perfectly happy with AOC as the face of the Democrat party is the outspoken Senator from Louisiana, John Kennedy.
If you’re not familiar with Kennedy, the plain-spoken senator is well known for his hilarious one-liners, and he recently joined some of his fellow GOP senators for a chat with Sean Hannity on Fox News where he gave his unfiltered take on AOC and the state of the Democrat party:
“I consider Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez to be the leader of the Democratic party. She’s entitled to her opinion, I’m entitled to mine.
As I’ve said about her before, I think she’s the reason there are directions on the shampoo bottle. Our plan for dealing with her is called Operation Let Her Speak.”

Boom, roasted.
The quip got a good laugh out of his fellow senators, but he’s not wrong that Republicans are perfectly happy to let AOC take center stage for Democrats, because they’re betting that her ideas are so radical and out of touch with the majority of voters that she’ll only hurt her party even more.
The 35-year old former bartender has made waves and has often found herself a target of criticism from conservatives for her liberal positions, including for her role in causing Amazon to pull out of a planned headquarters in her district and her staged crying photo when she posed by a parking lot near the border.
While we're talking about staged events, remember when AOC faked seeing migrant children in Texas? She stood in front of an empty parking lot, near a fence, and fake cried like she was overcome with emotion… from seeing a parking lot. A parking lot. pic.twitter.com/dg0kuHMRS7

There’s speculation that she could challenge Schumer for his Senate seat in 2028, with polls showing AOC with a commanding lead over the Senate Minority Leader. If that happens, and she’s able to unseat the longtime Democrat leader in the Senate, it would no doubt cement her position as a leader of the Democrat party – and would no doubt delight a lot of Republicans like Senator Kennedy.
