Megan Moroney is known for keeping it real on stage and in her songs, whether she’s singing about exes, heartbreak, or her girls, all while walking around stage in her sparkly boots. But at her recent show at The Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville, Alabama, she had a quick lyric change in the song “Miss Universe” that turned a few heads.

Usually the line goes:
“‘Cause I’da left him first if I’da met Brad Pitt.”
But in Huntsville, she sang this:
“‘Cause I’da left him first if I’da met Glen Powell.”
Yep. Glen Powell. The Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You star, who is all the talk in Hollywood right now. The lyric she mentioned him in was a part of a song that was written about how she was left by a man for another girl who she described as “Miss Universe,” pretty much saying Glen is a guy worth leaving your significant other for. And she’s not wrong…
So the TikTok has been making its rounds because Glen Powell is one of the internet’s current obsessions.
Everyone’s been talking about him and his Anyone But You co-star Sydney Sweeney. The two sparked major rumors after she was spotted at Glen’s sister’s wedding in Dallas, which just happened to be right after her and her fiancé called off their engagement. But it wasn’t only the wedding, it was the rehearsal dinner, eating together at a Tex-Mex restaurant, and allegedly brunching with his family (Sydney solo, Glen MIA.) Glen’s mom recently stepped in and shut down the romance rumors, saying:
“They’re definitely not together… She’s really a friend and we all enjoy her.”
Okay, fine. But Megan dropping Glen’s name mid-performance? Shooters shoot, am I right?
Of course, Megan has had her fair share of romance speculation herself. Country music fans (with way too much time on their hands) figured out that she was vacationing in Saint Bart’s a few months ago, and that fellow country star Riley Green was there as well. But she cleared those rumors up in an interview saying the two are just friends:
“Just because we’re hanging out doesn’t mean we’re romantically dating. You know what I mean?”
It doesn’t feel very far-fetched for Megan to meet Glen in real life. It surprises me that she said this because it just seems like they would already be friends. Not too long ago, she posted a video with Jake Shane, a popular podcast host, who is great friends with Glen Powell and has had him as a guest on his podcast, so there is definitely a possibility that they can meet.
So respect to Megan, and Kudos to Glen. I love that she has the guts to name drop him in a song like that, and that Glen might get to hear that a bombshell like Megan said that about him publicly. Glen also starred in the new Twister movie, which featured a ton of country singers, including Megan, on the soundtrack. She also shot her shot before with a tweet last year:

Megan’s currently still out on her Lucky 2.0 Tour, so maybe you can catch her and see if she uses Glen’s name in the song again…
