Someone get America’s Hot Dog King a Gatorade.
It’s always interesting to see high-profile celebrities out in the wild… and by “the wild,” I mean just doing normal human being activities. I’m glad I don’t have paparazzi interested in what I’m doing with my life. Could you imagine how quickly that would get old?
For example, this morning I saw a headline about Kevin Costner going to the grocery and his body “bulging out of tight pants.” Like… how horrible is that? And can we not just let the man go out and grab some pantry staples in his favorite pair of tight pants?
Considering that, I’m somewhat divided on this video below. Part of me is kind of bummed watching this, because Joey Chestnut deserves to have a wild night out at the bar just like the rest of us without cameras being on him. Think of everything the man has done for the United States of America. The least we can do is let Joey “Jaws” Chestnut have himself a night and get a little tipsy.
The other part of me thinks that though this video could be an invasion of Chestnut’s privacy, it just feeds into his legend even more. Most of the time, we only get to see this man once or twice a year. He’s synonymous with the July 4th Hot Dog Eating contest, then he presumably goes into hibernation. The same thing happens with Joe Lunardi and bracketology.
So getting to see Joey Chestnut in his element is somewhat of an added treat, is it not? To be frank (hot dog pun intended), I’ve never known or seen any proof that the glorified glizzy gobbler likes to guzzle alcoholic beverages. Now I know that, I’m an even bigger fan of the 16-time Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest winner. And if I’m being honest, I let out a little “Hell yeah” the first time I watched the clip.
Should we really be surprised that Joey Chestnut had one too many at the bar? The man has made a career in over indulging himself… he’s just typically making money off of it. This time around, it looks like he’s going to instead be paying for his drinks later on (if you know what I’m saying).
Whatever Joey Chestnut’s drink of choice was, it had him battling the wobbly-woozies:
Just legendary stuff.
It looked to me like Joey Chestnut was in good hands. And we’ve all been there right? Couple too many brewskis has had all of us grasping onto a table for balance at some point in our lives. He probably just needed a couple of hot dogs to sober up a bit, as social media pointed out in the comments:
“Someone help our boy Joey Buckets.”
“He doesn’t have to work until like 10 in the morning… 4 months from now. He’ll be fine.”
“Can handle 80 hotdogs but not 3 beers.”
“Bro just needs a street glizzy.”
“That man can do whatever he wants.”
“Protect our American hero.”
“Get this man 75 hotdogs ASAP.”
“Greatest athlete of all time.”
