Gotta strike while the iron is hot.
It’s the phrase that quickly turned into an internet sensation (and meme) over the weekend. There’s a good chance you’ve seen “Get Me To God’s Country” all over your social media feed the past couple of days. The plethora of memes about it have been incredibly entertaining, and if you are still in the dark about how it came to be, let me catch you up.
This past Saturday, the country music superstar was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live. Obviously his appearance was made in an effort to help promote his new album, I’m The Problem, and corresponding tour. But all signs pointed towards him being not-all-that interested in being “Live From New York!”
Wallen became a trending topic online – and still kind of is days later – because during SNL’s signature end of show sendoff (where the cast, host and musical guest all say goodbye to the audience and hug and chat), the country music singer gave his pleasantries to host Mikey Madison and then walked right off the stage.

Because of that exit – without talking to any of the SNL cast behind him – many assumed that Morgan Wallen couldn’t wait to get out of New York City. And his Instagram story that he posted shortly after his early departure all but confirmed that belief. The “Whiskey Glasses” singer shared a picture from the airport in New York and captioned it with this:
“Get Me To God’s Country.”

Now the jury is still out on whether or not Morgan Wallen exited center stage intentionally. Some have come out and claimed that Wallen and the staff at SNL were having a falling out, while others suggested that Morgan was just leaving and took the same route he had been taking all week. An NBC representative even came out and said that the country star is welcome back to the show anytime, and that this must have just been a big misunderstanding.
I’m starting to think it was a brilliant marketing ploy.
That’s reckless speculation right there, so please forgive me. Though now that Morgan Wallen and his team are putting out official “Get Me To God’s Country” merchandise… it’s at the very least convenient that the phrase has gone viral after his post-SNL social media post.
If you are to visit Morgan Wallen’s official website, you’ll see that they’ve updated their merchandise tab to include all new “Get Me To God’s Country” shirts and hats. All three items (the two hats and the t-shirt) cost $45 a piece, and they are currently available for pre-order.

Gotta respect Morgan Wallen for jumping on the opportunity to make some money off of the viral moment, and I do wonder if we’ll see “Get Me To God’s Country” included in some way in his upcoming I’m The Problem album.
And hey, the official tour is going to kick off before you know it, and Wallen’s website says that the “Get Me To God’s Country” merchandise would ship by June 13… just before the 2025 I’m The Problem Tour gets rolling.
