‘Pawn Stars’ Rick Harrison Details Memorable Moment Donald Trump Apologized To Him: “First Words Out Of Trump’s Mouth Were, ‘Rick I Am Really Sorry'”

Rick Harrison

Best I can do is offer you a Rick Harrison-Donald Trump story.

That was my attempt at the Pawn Stars joke if that wasn’t clear. Forgive me for trying to honor the reality series that made the World Famous Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on Las Vegas, Nevada must-see TV. The store has been owned and operated by the Harrison family since 1989, and though the show made many members of the Harrison family famous, Rick Harrison (the boss) was the one that became the frontman… so to speak. Pawn Stars airs on The History Channel, which you can stream on Fubo TV (worth checking out if you want to cut the cable).

Rick Harrison’s fame has allowed for him to connect with many high-profile figures, including President Donald Trump. In a recent interview featured on In Depth with Graham Bensinger, Harrison spoke a bit about his relationship with the president, and also presented his most memorable story involving the POTUS.

And it all revolved around a rally in Las Vegas that Trump wanted Harrison to be a part of:

“This is in 2018. He was having a rally here in Las Vegas for someone running for Congress. They wanted me to announce him at the rally. So I show up with my son Jake and my daughter Serena… White House staff goes, ‘Hey Rick! How’s it going? Come right this way.’ We go backstage and Secret Service goes, ‘He’s not on the list.’ And they’re going like, ‘But it’s Rick Harrison.’ (Secret Service say), ‘He’s not on the list. Doesn’t matter.’

I’m literally trying to call a U.S. Senator and some other people, some Congressmen, and I can’t get a hold of anybody. The Secret Service throws me into the public at a rally… and I’m getting mobbed. We had to leave. We could not stay there. We drove home, I dropped Jake off. I’m so pissed off that I’m going to the bar.”

Gotta go to the bar when you get turned away by the Secret Service.

Rick recalled that as he was on the way to blow off some steam over some drinks, he got a phone call from who was then Nevada Senator Dean Heller. The politicians number popped up on his truck’s screen, and he went ahead and pressed accept on the call. Little did he know that the President of the United States would be on the other line:

“Senator Heller knows I have no filter, so the first words out of his mouth are, ‘Rick, before you say a word, the President of the United States would like to talk to you. And the first words out of Trump’s mouth were, ‘Rick, I am really sorry. This is all my fault. My White House staff, they work for me, they screwed up. That makes it my fault. I am sorry. They should have informed the Secret Service, so I’m sorry… and will you please come back down to the convention center? We’ll try to make this happen.’ And you aren’t going to tell the President of the United States, ‘No.'”

Really cool to hear the accountability that President Trump has with his White House staff.

Like Harrison said, you can’t turn down an offer like that from the President of the United States, so the Pawn Stars star (redundant?) rerouted from the bar to go back and pick up his son. As they were driving back to the convention center, Rick says that he got yet another phone call. This time around, it was a conference call that consisted of security and police officials, and they asked one simple question:

“Where you at and what are you driving?”

Harrison then detailed the special instructions he was given to stop at a stop light and… we’ll I’ll let you hear it from Rick:

How about that?

First off, Rick’s story provides some really cool insight into how the Secret Service operates. That last part of the story where he gets a random phone call and police cars come out of the woodwork to escort him to the convention center is like something out of a movie. And I’m happy to hear that it all worked out in the end, and that they eventually met up and took pictures with Trump – who took full responsibility for the mix up.
