Wanna live like Dolly Parton? Well, now you can, for a cool $768,000…
Her former cabin retreat has been put back on the market less than a year after it was sold for $585,000 by the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Southern California, which she had initially donated the house to in November of 2023.
According to Realtor.com, the home is located in the mountains of Idyllwild, California, and was formerly owned by Dolly and her late husband Carl dean for many decades. Dolly was a movie star in Hollywood for several years and traveled quite a bit back-and-forth to Tennessee, so it made sense for her to have a home not too terribly far away.
The listing, being handled by Tiffany Raridon and brokered by Elevated Properties, explained that the 3-story mountain retreat remains almost exactly as it was when she owned it, and it’s tucked away on a seasonal creek and just a short stroll to town. It also adds:
“Locals still share fond memories of Dollys time in Idyllwild, where she was known for her kindness, humor, and down-to-earth spirit. Now, its ready for its next lucky owner to write their own chapter.
Designed with mid-century chalet flair, the home features soaring wood-beamed ceilings, expansive windows, and a dramatic stone fireplace in a living room built around a massive granite boulder. The spacious deck is ideal for gathering, storytelling, or simply soaking in the peaceful mountain setting and the sounds of the creek.
And because even a country queen needs modern comforts, this home has had a few fancy features to keep it shining bright: A newly installed Presidential luxury shingle roof for both style and durability, brand-new EV charging station because even mountain hideaways should be high-tech, independent heating and cooling zones for customized comfort on every level.”
In fact, Dolly and her beloved mother were the last to occupy this home, leaving behind decor, collectibles, and furnishings, all included in the sale. I mean, you can literally own the furnishings of Dolly Parton… that’s pretty cool.
There’s also a loft where Dolly is rumored to have written music and practiced her songs, so it’s more than just owning a home but a gorgeous piece of history too. There’s even a signed photo of Dolly as a young girl hanging on the wall… I’d buy it just for that, honestly. But the guitar-shaped toilet seat is really something, too.
The home comes in at 1,800-square-feet, and property records suggest that Dolly purchased it in December 1994. It’s a beautiful, charming home, and very Dolly, a you’ll see in the photos below. And honestly, under $1 million is not bad in this market, especially considering it’s in California and an impressive piece of country history.
