Digging DEEP into the vault.
Today, Miranda Lambert released a song that’s 20 years old in honor of the 20th anniversary of her debut album Kerosene called “I Don’t Love Here Anymore.” Of course, Kerosene first put her on the map in country and on the path to stardom, notably with the songs title track that remains a fan-favorite to this day.
“I Don’t Love Here Anymore” was recorded during the original album sessions two decades ago, and obviously has a sound and feel very reminiscent of that time. Written by Miranda along with Heather Little, it finds her in the midst of heartbreak feeling lonely and sad.
Miranda says the album in general “changed everything,” and in addition to released this never-before-heard song, she’s excited for fans to finally get the chance to have Kerosene on vinyl:
“This album changed everything for me. It’s where my journey truly began, and I can hardly believe it’s been 20 years. Releasing ‘Kerosene’ on vinyl for the first time—and sharing a never-before-heard song from that era—feels incredibly special. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it and relive the fire that started it all!”
The album debuted at #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart upon its release in 2005, and was eventually certified Platinum by the RIAA (meaning its moved over one million units since its release).
It’s definitely been a journey for the Texas girl since then, who has released eight studio albums since this one, and for many years reigned as the country queen with multiple radio hits (though not as many as she should’ve had, in my humble opinion), and tons of awards from CMAs to Grammys.
Miranda most recently released her Postcards From Texas album last year, which was a journey back to her roots and the honky tonk halls in Texas she cut her teeth in. As someone who became a fan of hers from early albums like this, it’s really exciting that there was at least one that didn’t make the final album cut that we finally get to hear all these years later.
It’s a special surprise, and it’s a great song that her longtime fans will certainly appreciate.
