I don’t think anybody saw this duo coming.
Well folks, we may have just witnessed the beginning of one of the most unexpected (or maybe unrequited) love stories. Or at least that’s what it looked like…
Kevin Costner, AKA John Dutton, the legendary cowboy of Yellowstone, looked like he was in disbelief watching Cher’s performance on the “SNL 50” anniversary special-and the internet is eating it up. She was singing her iconic hit “If I Could Turn Back Time.”

This 50th anniversary special was different from usual showings of SNL. It was a three hour event with more sketches, musical performances, and musical appearances by past and present cast members. The homecoming concert was on friday and the live primetime special was aired on Sunday. But it got a lot of traction because of the amount of celebrity guests from singers to actors to athletes.
While I knew this was the case, seeing Kevin Costner there still caught me off guard. He’s undoubtedly a major actor, but John Dutton and the rugged cowboys from all these westerns don’t exactly mix with the SNL scene in my mind. Maybe that just proves how good he is at what he does.
And everyone was loving that he was there in the first place:

Fast forward to the actual live show on Sunday night, and Costner found himself sitting right next to Cher in the New York Studio. But on the other side of Cher? Her 39-year-old boyfriend, Alexander Edwards.
This was shocking to me when I saw that Cher’s hand was on Kevin Costner’s lap instead. (What is going on??)

Both of them have been heartthrobs for decades, and if the internet’s reaction is any indication, they still have plenty of admirers.
So what started as a funny jaw on the floor concert reaction has turned into actual relationship allegations. Or maybe it’s just a super touchy (??) friendship that is blossoming. Some have argued that it was actually Costner’s own hand, but whatever it is, people want to know. And I’m all for it.
