Wynonna Judd Reveals That She’s Raising Her 2-Year-Old Granddaughter As Daughter, Grace Kelley, Continues To Struggle With Addiction

TODAY with Jenna & Friends

Grandma Wynonna.

Recently, Wynonna Judd appeared as a guest host on Today with Jenna & Friends, where she talked about her life on the farm and raising her young granddaughter, who was born just a couple weeks before Wynonna tragically lost her mother.

Wynonna’s daughter, Grace Kelley, has found herself in trouble with the law quite a bit recently, though she has had many issues over the years that have been well-documented in the media, mostly having to do with drugs.

She was arrested three different times in 2024, including in April when she was arrested in Alabama for indecent exposure. She was also charged with obstructing governmental operations. Police say she “exposed her breasts and lower body” at the intersection of I-65 and Highway 14, and when confronted by officers, sat on the side of the road and refused to comply. They later added soliciting prostitution to the charges.

In August, Kelley was arrested in Georgia, and sent to Carroll County Jail on charges of fleeing or attempting to allude an officer, driving with a suspended/revoked license and using motorcycle equipment improperly, public records show. She was released on $2,750 bond. She failed to appear and a bench warrant has since been issued in the state of Georgia. And lastly, back in October near Charlottesville Virginia, Kelley was arrested for stealing a church van.

It’s incredibly sad and obviously, she’s in no position to take care of a young child as she sadly continues to struggle with addiction, so Wynonna is stepping up and raising her on the farm, which she told Jenna about:

“No, I don’t have a computer. I don’t watch television unless it’s planned, because I’m raising my two and-a-half year old granddaughter. I listen to her, so I don’t really do a lot of Instagram…”

Wynonna called her life on the farm “simple and sweet,” adding that they don’t use much technology and she’s been learning how to “do life” off the road and live more normally, meaning like people who aren’t touring musicians for a living:

“My life on the farm is simple and sweet. Which is what we need more of, I think. We don’t do phones at dinner… and I do what I have to do to learn how to just live off the road, because I was on the road at 17.

So I never got to learn how to do life outside of show business. So now I’m learning. Having a day where we just cook, and do nothing but eat and fellowship. Food, family and fun is my goal.”

Of course, Wynonna has been through a lot in her personal life over the years, notably with her mother, Naomi, the other half of legendary country dup The Judd’s, who sadly died by suicide in April of 2022.

It’s commendable and impressive that she’s now stepping up for her sweet little granddaughter, and it’s great to hear that she’s doing so well now with so much on her plate.

In 2023, she went on a headlining tour, and this year, she’ll open up some dates for Tyler Childers on his 2025 Tyler Childers On The Road tour, which is a pretty sweet gig and helluva bill if you ask me.
