Glad they’re getting to experience Philly like a true local.
I’ve been to Philadelphia quite a few times. Always enjoyed it, had a good time seeing all the historical sites, partying on Broad Street and eating my weight in Philly cheesesteaks. (When it comes to the Pat’s vs. Geno’s debate, Tony Luke’s was always my favorite).
One place that I never made it during my time in the City of Brotherly Love was the Hard Rock Cafe. I guess I missed out on the authentic local spots, but it was just never high up on my list…mainly because there’s one about 20 minutes from me here in Nashville (that I’ve also never been to) and because they’re a well-known tourist trap in pretty much every city at this point. Not exactly getting the “authentic” experience of a new place when you hit up a chain restaurant like the Hard Rock.
For Washington Commanders fans though, apparently it was their stop while “taking over” Philly ahead of today’s NFC Championship game between the Commanders and the Philadelphia Eagles.
Just listen to this inspiring speech:
“We took over this place…We wanted to have a safe space for all of us to be tonight, and that’s what we did.”
Unbelievable turnout in Philly‼️ (used to live here and they are NOT used to this)
Thanks to @TailgateTed for amazing experience

Sir, this is a Hard Rock Cafe.
And the reason that they were able to “take over” the Hard Rock Cafe and have a safe space is because…well, locals never go there. It’s the same in every city. You’re not exactly going to get your family together to go out for an overpriced dinner at the Hard Rock Cafe?
Oh, and even better, after being accused of only having 25 people there, one of the attendees clarified that it was…actually 37 people.

But hey, they thought they did something. Unfortunately, the internet couldn’t help but laugh – and by laugh I mean brutally mock – and the Commanders fans who are clearly new to this whole “having a good football team” thing after making it to their first NFC Championship Game since they won the Super Bowl back in 1991.
Guys talking like they just stormed the beaches at Normandy when all they did was dine at the Hard Rock Cafe on Market pic.twitter.com/yMmnqvSrmv

Nothing like Commanders fans taking over a place that desperately needs their business since no one else goes there.

12 people at a Hard Rock Cafe that nobody in Philly goes to 🤣 we’re shaking mane.

You’re in Hard Rock Cafe on 13th & Market. 😂
What’s that like 100 people?
I seen more people at a Kamala rally.

Standing guard at my local Starbucks to avoid the Commanders fans taking over my favorite local Philly breakfast spot.

“Taking over” the Philly Hard Rock is like taking over the Times Square Applebees.
We don’t even know it exists. https://t.co/S1ZcM2xomu

Good try I guess? Let’s hope they don’t come to Nashville and try to take over Jason Aldean’s or Luke Bryan’s.
Of course it’s no surprise that the Commanders are pumped for the game, after such a long Super Bowl drought. In fact, before this year, the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins (can I still say that word?) had only made the NFL playoffs twice in the past decade, losing in the wild card round in both 2015 and 2020.
But star rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels certainly seems to have brought some life back to the team, and fans are no doubt feeling good after their upset win over the Detroit Lions last week in the divisional round.
I’m sure the Commanders will have a strong showing in the stands today as they try to make it to their first Super Bowl in over 30 years…especially after they managed to take over the Philly Hard Rock Cafe last night.
