Well, that’s one way to get rid of an unwanted visitor.
A Canadian woman is going viral for politely (only way Canadians know how) communicating with a buck through her front door security camera, and it’s GOLD.
As it gets colder, food sources for wildlife become more limited. Greenery dies, leaves on trees begin to fall, and if you’re a deer in a climate that gets snow, you have to look extra hard under the piles of white power for food. It’s not an easy world out there for a doe or buck in the harsh winter.
However, hunting for food becomes much easier over the holiday season when humans fill their lawns and porches with greenery to celebrate Christmas. From pine and cedar sprigs to even pieces of cranberry and more, if you’re a deer stumbling upon a house decorated with real greenery instead of that plastic crap, you’ve just arrived at a Michelin Star restaurant.
A buck in New Glasgow, Canada, was one of these lucky diners, finding a home with a plentiful holiday arrangement on the front porch. This buck was about to help himself to an all-you-can-eat buffet when his feast was interrupted by a woman talking to him through the video camera on her front door.
The owner of the home hilariously called out the buck for eating her arrangements and kindly asked him to leave.
“Um, Excuse me, buck? Hey, Hi. Could you stop eating my holiday arrangement? Backup buddy. Okay, Merry Christmas. Ho Ho Ho.”
After hearing the woman, the buck shot his head up and listened intently to the voice. As if he could hear the woman perfectly clear, he slowly backed up off the first steps of the porch. After backing up a few steps, the buck puts his head back down to continue snacking before being interrupted again.
“No, no, stop. No.”
Obeying the booming voice (which gives the same vibe as the Wizard talking through a matching in The Wizard of Oz), the buck fully retreats off the porch and goes on his way.
What a polite buck… then again, it’s the Canadian way.
