Defying the odds.

This man has not only done what most only dream of when it comes to regaining “normal” function after a serious trauma, but he’s also doing it better than some dude who has experienced nothing compared to what he’s been through.

Meet Dallas Bruce, a blind and disabled young man whose life was seriously impacted by a gunshot wound.

Dallas quickly introduces himself in his TikTok videos and tells people about his disability:

“Hey, I’m Dallas Bruce; when I was 21, I was found shot by a shotgun.”

In 2017, Dallas Bruce was shot in the face, leaving his skull in fragments, but he miraculously survived. Dallas is now blind and is still undergoing facial reconstruction surgeries, but he is using his newfound platform to inspire others.

Dallas recently took to his Facebook to tell his story, recalling the event that led to his disabilities.

“Wasn’t going to address this on social media but this morning a post popped off about whether I shot myself or got shot. I’m not 100% sure on what happened that day. There is a lot to the story, but at the end of the day God told me I needed to forgive people and that is what I’ve done. I have forgiven people and moved on, it doesn’t matter what happened to me that day.

All I know is I was found with my face blown off by a 12 gauge, and by the grace of God, I walked out of that house and overcame all obstacles that were thrown my way and have two beautiful kids and a wife and so many awesome stories…”

Now, Dallas is sharing with people how he lives his life now that he’s blind. In a recent TikTok post, Dallas left social media users speechless as she demonstrated just one way he defined the odds. Before his accident, he was an avid duck hunter and longed to return to it after his injury. However, after many surgeries, they were unsure if Dallas could use a duck call again. But he prevailed.

“I was an avid duck hunter, and at first, I couldn’t blow a duck call because my bottom jaw is my fibula, and my top jaw is my scapula; I don’t have teeth, and I’m missing part of my tongue. But, by the grace of God, I was able to get back on it.”

After that, he lets it RIP on the call. Dallas Bruce can better call out some veteran hunters today.

@braveandblind All glory to God for saving my husband and allowing him to still be awesome! #fyp #duckhunting #duckcall #duckdynasty #hunting ♬ original sound – Brave and Blind

We at Whiskey Riff were inspired by his story and reached out to him. He told us that he hopes to continue inspiring others who have faced similar challenges. He and his best friend, Jacob, are in the process of getting a hunting foundation up and running for disabled hunters and kids who want to hunt.

On his profile, you can see that Dallas Bruce has gotten back out there. One of his first times back in the blind led him to shoot a banded goose.

Dallas’ story is truly incredible, and I, for one, cannot wait to continue following it to see what is in store for him. His platform is going to inspire many.

Check out some comments lifting him up on his duck call video. To say that he’s gained the respect of many is an understatement.

“Dude is more badass than anybody I know.”

“Blow it better than half my buddies. Me included, for that matter!”

“Hell yeah, make me jealous. Sound better than me.”

“Outstanding; love to see it, brother!”

“Damn right,t bro! You should go to competitions!”

“You got it, brother. Thank the Lord you are still with us and your family. God bless you all.”

“That’s awesome, man. Way to be a trooper and to keep on doing what you love.”

“Brother been through all that and sounds better than me on my best day.”
