A father’s worst nightmare…

Darryl Worley recently asked for prayers after his 16-year old daughter Savannah suffered serious injuries from a car accident over the weekend.

The country singer took to social media last night to share that he was flying back to Nashville from a show in New Mexico after learning that his daughter had to be life flighted to Vanderbilt University Hospital following the serious accident.

In his post, Worley said that Savannah suffered from a broken leg, bruises, and lacerations, and he also shared photos of the crash that showed just how serious it was:

“I’m humbly coming to y’all with an a very serious request! I’m flying back to Nashville from a show in New Mexico! Kimberly called and said Savannah had been in a bad wreck and was being life flighted to Vanderbuilt Medical Center in Nashville! She has a broken leg, bruises, and lacerations! Please pray for her and pray I can get home to be with my baby girl and Kimberly! Also pray for the lady in the other car! I don’t have any details on the accident but just ask you to pray!! Thank you! Swipe to see the cars!”

Savannah is the daughter of Worley and his wife Kimberly, who have been married since 2007.

The country singer had his first hits in 2000 with “When You Need My Love” and “A Good Day To Run,” and scored his first #1 hit in 2002 with “I Miss My Friend.”

The biggest hit of his career, though, came in 2003 with his 9/11-inspired anthem “Have You Forgotten?” And last year, he released an updated version of the song calling for unity 20 years after the original song:

“The message is that we as a people here in America need to think about what we can do to help with the problem of division.”

For the new version, Worley reunited with Wynn Varble, his co-writer on the original song. And more than updating a few words, the song’s an entirely new take on the 2003 hit:

“I hear people saying our best days are gone
A people once united can’t even get along
A nation so divided, a country torn in two
It’s such a shame after all that we’ve been through
We’ve always been a beacon, the world’s one shining light
Are we going to let it all go wrong for the sake of being right?

Have we forgotten who we really are?
All the storms we’ve had to weather and how we ever got this far
Have we forgotten how it used to be?
When we could still sit down together and agree to disagree
And the common good was what we had in common
Have we forgotten?”

Worley also suffered a tragedy earlier this year when a barn on his property caught fire and burned down “a lot of memories” – but luckily, all of the animals inside were saved.

He hasn’t updated followers on Savannah’s condition following the wreck, but it was no doubt a scary phone call for a father to get while he was out on tour – or at any time.

Here’s to hoping that she’s able to make a full recovery and is released from the hospital sooner rather than later.
