Jason Kelce attended a Taylor Swift concert in Miami recently and brought the whole family along, but as is par for the course when you’re so prominent in the public eye, his appearance was scrutinized due to an apparent cat nap he took during the show.

I could totally excuse these sort of Dad antics, because Kelce is a busy man after all. The retired Philadelphia Eagles center is pumping out episodes of his New Heights podcast with his beloved brother Travis, in addition to juggling an ESPN media gig and more time at home with the wife and kids. It’s quite an adjustment! Why should he be shamed for taking a snooze?
Some of us can empathize with Jason Kelce’s plight. At least see where he’s coming from if he wants to get an extra wink or two of sleep in. Not some Swifties, though! Look at some of these reactions.

Taylor’s potential future brother-in-law getting blasted for chilling in his seat, and possibly sleeping for a hot minute? These Swifties are taking notes. I get it. Standards are high for Taylor. But this is a little overkill, no?
It’s most definitely overkill now that Jason has revealed that he was not, in fact, sleeping at the Taylor Swift concert after all! As told on the latest New Heights, edited for concision and clarity:
“I’m gonna give a little background to this. We brought a bunch of people to the show. Mom went for the first time, and we’re trying to figure [it] out. We’ll get a box. We’ll make it happen so that everybody can come to the show. We go out there and I realize I’m in the middle of the open. It isn’t like a box that’s enclosed. I feel like I’m kind of in a fishbowl. Everyone staring at me. So I’m like OK, I’m gonna sit down. I’m just like sitting here…feeling it. And I’m tapping my thigh in the moment.
[…] I go on Twitter and I see this f*****g picture. And I’m like dude, what the f**k? Like I’m not even sleeping, and I can prove it to you. There’s evidence in this photo that I’m not sleeping. […] If you zoom in on my right hand, my hand is hovering! You can’t sleep with your hand hovering above your knee! It’s impossible!”

Turns out it was a tough crowd of Swifties, eh?
It has to be a tricky thing to try to be present with your family and friends, accommodating all of them so they can go to this epic, hours-long concert — only to find that at your seat, you’re in plain view of hundreds, even thousands of people, some of whom are monitoring your moves rather frequently. In the end, from what Jason said to his bro, he was blown away by how great the concert was, and was simply vibing out to Taylor’s tunes as opposed to being bored to sleep of them.
