Jelly Roll does things the right way.
The rapper-turned-country-artist made headlines earlier this week when he graciously footed the bill for anyone and everyone that wanted to eat at Gus’s Fried Chicken in Little Rock, Arkansas ahead of his sold-out show at Simmons Bank Arena. Jelly Roll actually returned to social media (after swearing he was done with it) to post a video telling people to go eat at the chicken shop – and that he was buying:
“In case you missed the memo, here’s the short version. When I first started coming to Little Rock, Arkansas I played a place called Stickyz Chicken Shack. It had 200 people, I sold it out, I was so proud.
Next time I came I played a place called the Rev Room, right here behind me. Right next to it is a place called Gus’s Chicken, we ate Gus’s Chicken every time we played the Rev Room, I played that place 10 times.
If you come to Gus’s Chicken in Little Rock, Arkansas today the food is on me, baby, come get you a meal. This one’s on me to honor our sold out show at Simmons Bank Arena. To all y’all artists playing Stickyz and playing the Rev Room… Keep playing baby, keep playing baby!”

As always, it was cool to see the “Need A Favor” singer give back to those that may be walking a similar path that he once was on. He’s as genuine as they come, and is always looking for a way to use his platform to help others. And that was where the story of Jelly Roll’s generosity ended.
That is until Gus’s Fried Chicken revealed to KATV7 (a local news station) just how much that bill came out to be, and how much the country music artist left as a tip on top of it all. After Jelly Roll put that message out online, people traveled to the restaurant in droves, and the total bill for all the food that was on him came out to be $11,268.12.
And on top of that, Jelly Roll left a $7,500 tip to help those working at Gus’s. Business was likely booming once people found out they could get a free meal, so the country star with a heart of gold decided to help all the workers out with a generous tip as well.
As you’ll see in this local news clip:
