It’s always hard to see someone else – or something else – living out your dream.
Free rent? Inside a Bass Pro Shop? It really doesn’t get any better than that, and these raccoons have officially figured out how to maximize their indoor life while still maintaining that outdoor feel. I can’t believe I’m saying this… but I’m officially and overwhelmingly jealous of where these raccoons live.
Someone strolling through the Chattanooga, Tennessee Bass Pro Shop location was walking around the store and admiring all it had to offer when they noticed some little critters crawling around an artificial tree. Those that have been to a Bass Pro before know that there are plenty of animals throughout the store… they’re just taxidermied. Besides the iconic fish tank, there aren’t supposed to be any live animals in the store.
But when you think about it, a Bass Pro Shop is pretty much the perfect place for an animal to call home. Somehow, someway, these little raccoons got into the establishment and set up shop inside one of the artificial trees. And I’ve got to imagine it’s one hell of a pad… or at least it was, probably until Bass Pro employees in Chattanooga got wind of this viral video and started the removal process.
If they were smart though, they’d keep these raccoons in the store and market it as, “Come to the Chattanooga Bass Pro! Where you can see live raccoons running amuck through our store!”

That’s just amazing.
It saddens me to think that they’ve probably been removed by this point (this video was posted four days ago), but I do find some comfort in the comments that social media users left behind celebrating the raccoons for living that good life inside a Bass Pro Shop, even if it was just for a fleeting moment:
“That one raccoon looking down like, ‘Hey, you didn’t see nothing.'”
“Nice raccoon condo, but the HOA is the absolute worst!”
“How did this even happen? There are like a 1000 things ready available in that store that should’ve prevented this.”
“Bougie trash pandas living the rich raccoon life.”
“That there is a city raccoon in luxurious heated and cooled tree with all the snacks and water needed.”
