A hilarious mistake.
Today, Miranda Lambert was a guest on on Theo Von’s This Past Weekend podcast, where they talked about her new album Postcards From Texas, her meeting Gypsy Rose back in the day, and Theo also, accidentally, brought up Miranda’s ex-husband, Blake Shelton.
They of course went through a very public divorce in 2015, and it was the hot topic in the tabloids for months on end. It didn’t exactly end on great terms, but clearly both are happily remarried now and have moved on from that time in their lives.
But here’s what happened on the podcast…
Miranda and Theo got to talking about Casey Kasem’s radio show American Top 40 and all the different music that would be featured, and they also got to chatting about the Cryin’, Lovin’ Or Leavin’ Show, and the fact that they wanted to hear a bit from it again, so they looked it up.
And believe it or not, the first post that came up was from a caller who requested “God Gave Me You” by Blake Shelton over a decade ago, which as it turns out, was the song that he and Miranda danced to at their wedding.
I looked it up too, and it really is the first article that comes up… Theo was insistent that they didn’t do it on purpose (which was obvious because they clearly never planned to talk about this radio segment ahead of time), but you can quickly find the article if you do a quick Google search.
Funny enough, right before they clicked on the article, Miranda, talking about the program in general, said:
“I would totally listen to that!”
Theo mentioned that he had called in twice before, and got through once, and when Miranda realized what the song request was on the article, she thought it was hilarious, saying;
“Perfect one to pick, by the way! Perfect. Perfect. That is so perfect!”
Theo was a bit flustered and caught off guard, explaining:
“There’s no way… Miranda I swear to God, we did not pick that on purpose, I had no idea we would talk about that.”
Miranda laughed harder about this than anything else on the podcast, telling them it was her wedding song and obviously taking it well, saying to Theo and his producer:
“My first wedding song, guys, let’s play that! We just manifested all of that… we’re crying, love and leaving now, bye! None left. We need to do a new spinoff of it.”
They didn’t have the music video pulled up, but it actually starts out with Miranda talking about how she’s getting married “in 36 hours” to Blake, and explaining how much they’ve been through and how excited she is to get married to him.
She honestly rarely talks about that marriage in-depth (at least publicly), which is understandable, but it’s pretty funny to see her reaction to this here, and clearly, she got a kick out of it and can laugh it off now.
