Out of all the crazy things that have happened this year, I certainly didn’t have this on my bingo card.
Today, Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl announced via a statement on his Instagram account that he cheated on his wife, and has fathered a daughter “outside of my marriage.”
For obvious reasons, he has chosen to keep both the identity of the mother and new baby private, and Dave has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003, with whom he has three daughters, Violet (who is 18 and has frequently joined Foo Fighters onstage at shows), Harper (15) and Ophelia (10).
He was married once before that, to his first wife Jennifer Leigh Youngblood, though they divorced in 1997 after he admitted to infidelities.
You can read the full statement below, but Grohl also shared in the post that he is working on regaining the trust and earning the forgiveness off his wife and three other daughters:
“I’ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage. I plan to be a loving and supporting parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness.
We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.”
And I’m not gonna lie, when I saw this news, I was pretty shocked myself… Dave has always come across as a pretty genuine, likable guy, and as a Nirvana and Foo Fighters fan, it hurts… really unfortunate situation for his family and everyone involved.

Hopefully, his family can move on in a way that’s best for all parties and find some sort of peace about the situation.
After being on tour pretty much all summer, the Foo Fighters have just one upcoming show on their schedule right now, at Soundside Music Festival in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
