Kangaroos are a part of life for residents in Australia.
For the most part, the roos aren’t much of a threat, and often are spotted taking over people’s front yards and wandering about. But on occasion, the wild animals get violent, and there’s usually not much warning for those that end up being in the kangaroo’s path of destruction.
A family living in New South Wales recently found that out, and the terrifying event that left a two-year-old with minor injuries was caught on the family’s security cameras. One moment, the toddler was having fun in the yard, running around in the grass just outside the house. The next, a kangaroo got a running start and hit the little kid with a nasty, two-leg-flying kick right to the chest.
The attack sent the small child flying back through the air, landing with a thud on the ground as the roo continued its attack. According to reports, the marsupial was growling and grunting while it attacked. It’s a horrifying clip to watch, and many are applauding the toddler’s father for fearlessly rushing in to save his child.
As the toddler tried to fight back, even kicking in an attempt to keep the attacking wild animal at bay, her father came sprinting in to save the day. The kid’s mother and father were apparently sitting just out of frame, meaning that they weren’t far away when the roo decided to launch its attack. That makes the incident that much more concerning…
The dad threw something at the kangaroo, and that seemed to really do the trick in breaking up the battle. Once the marsupial backed away, and eventually ran off, the dad picked up his daughter and rushed her to safety. It’s a miracle the toddler wasn’t seriously injured, and you’ll agree when you press play on the footage below:
The family now plans on putting up a privacy fence (that will double as a safety fence) so the little girl can continue playing in the yard without having to fear a kangaroo attack. But talk about the formation of a lifelong fear… that little kid won’t ever get near a kangaroo again.
