A new one from Silverada.
The band formerly known as Mike and the Moonpies have a new self-titled album coming soon, and they put out the lead single called “Anywhere But Here” back in March.
Frontman Mike Harmeier wrote most of Silverada at home in his studio after years on the road, after wanting to branch out some in terms of the classic, beloved Mike and the Moonpies sound. He found a lot of inspiration through various books, sci-fi novels, astronomy and more.
And today, they released “Radio Wave,” which finds Harmeier appreciating the beauty of the heartland, the open road that runs through it, and the radio stations that transport you through the music and memories. In terms of the sound, this one is a little bit different and more atmospheric, in a sense, than some of their other stuff and I think the top Youtube comment summed it up best:
“I feel like every song on this album is a different genre and I’m here for it.”
I’ve enjoyed hearing some new tunes that are a bit different than what we might be used to hearing from them, and they still manage to stay true to the heart of who they are as a band which is refreshing and makes me even more excited for the album.
In addition to Harmeier, Silverada is comprised of Zach Moulton on steel guitar, bassist Omar Oyoque, Catlin Rutherford slinging guitar, and drummer Taylor Englert. Together, they made up one of the tightest bands in country music for nearly two decades as Mike and the Moonpies, and they’ll continue to do the same for many more years as Silverada.
The band plans to continue to perform all of the songs from their back catalogue, the same as before, so don’t worry longtime fans… they’re still going to be playing all of their solid country gold at live shows, in addition to stuff from the forthcoming new album.
Silverada is set to perform an album release show at The Ryman Auditorium next month on July 5th with Uncle Lucius opening, and the Silverada record is due out everywhere here soon on June 28th.
