“Oh My God” – Massive Great White Shark Circles Around Fishing Boat

If there was ever a shark in real life that would lead a fisherman to say he needs a bigger boat (à la Jaws), I feel confident in saying it would be this one.

Fishermen in Port Stephens, Australia got quite the surprise as they were out on the ocean ripping lips. While they were deep sea fishing, a creature of the deep sea decided to pay them a visit. They got the monstrous great white shark on video as it circled their boat in search of any easy meal.

You’ll notice in the caption of the TikTok post below that the shark is referred to as the “Final Boss Taxman.” Sharks have earned the nickname “taxman” from anglers because they often jump out of the water and steal away a portion of the fish that is being reeled into the boat.

These fishermen definitely didn’t want to tempt this beast, so they carefully waited for the shark to pass through before they pulled their hooked fish out of the ocean. The great white shark continued to circle the boat (which would have caused my knees to knock together in fear), waiting for the right moment to ambush a fish on the line and get away with an easy meal.

It looks to be a rather sizable boat that the fishermen are on, but it didn’t seem all that big compared to the size of the great white shark swimming around it. The sheer length of the great white caused one of the men on the boat to let out an audible “Oh my God” as he watched it circle around over and over again.

And I know I’m making a big deal out of this, but I have to remember that this is Australia we’re talking about. Those that live “Down Under” are probably used to staring death right in the face. That’s just another Tuesday for Australians… or at least that’s what I’ve been led to believe.

The fishermen had quite the story attached to it in the caption:

“The most incredible experience I’ve ever had on the ocean. To be both simultaneously petrified and in awe is a rare human experience and that’s the effect this wild apex predator had on me. She swam around us for nearly an hour whilst we continued to fish. I’ve always dreamt of stumbling across one but never imagined one this size. So graceful and peaceful in one sense but also the DNA of my nightmares.”
