Megan Moroney Brings Her Signature Emo Cowgirl Country To ‘Twisters: The Album’ Soundtrack With “Never Left Me”

Another banger form the Twisters: The Album soundtrack.

Today, Megan Moroney has a new track out everywhere called “Never Left Me,” which is part of the forthcoming major motion picture Twisters. We previously heard Luke Combs’ thunderous lead single “Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma,” and I thought it was an incredibly strong start to the album.

That momentum is certainly carried on with this new song, which was written by Meg, and finds her returning home to wherever that is, speaking to someone that meant so much to her and realizing that they had such a big influence on her life that even though she left like a “bat out of hell,” they were always with her:

“I bet you knew that I’d be back thе day you watched me go
Now herе you are all open-arms though I told you so
Cross-stitched pillows sayin’ “home sweet home”
Ain’t moved an inch since I’ve been gone
You kept these parts of me I haven’t seen in so long

I packed my bags like a bat outta hell
Said, “I’m all good all by myself”
Well, here I am again
It’s been too long, old friend
If floors could cry and walls could talk
I hope they’d say, “It ain’t your fault”
Standin’ on your front porch, I can see
I left you, but you never left me
You never left me”

The production is simple and pretty stripped back, and I can’t wait to hear this one, along with all the other new country music we have coming from some other stellar artists, on the big screen. What a cool moment for the genre…

Of course, the movie is a follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster Twister, and features Daisy Edgar-Jones starring as Kate Cooper, and Glenn Powell starring as Tyler Owens. The film is due out in theaters on July 19th.

Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Miranda Lambert, The Red Clay Strays and so many more will be featured on the lengthy 29-song tracklist.
