Taylor Swift Fans Think She Dissed Travis Kelce’s Teammate Kadarius Toney On New Album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’

Is Taylor Swift already writing diss tracks about NFL players?

The pop superstar just dropped her latest (what turned out to be a double) album, The Tortured Poets Department. And of course that means Swifties have already started dissecting every word of the album to try to figure out what she means by the lyrics.

The album was written after Taylor’s breakup with…I dunno, one of her exes, I don’t follow closely enough to care. Joe? Matt? One of those sounds right.

So naturally a lot of the songs are addressing her past relationship. But given her current relationship with star Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, fans were expecting that there might be some mention of her new relationship on the album. But after hearing it, the internet thinks that she actually took a shot at one of his teammates.

Kadarius Toney had a rough season with the Chiefs this year, and became the target of a lot of criticism for some big drops, like this one against the Patriots that led to an interception.

Or this one against the Detroit Lions early in the season.

Or this one from earlier in the same game that led to a pick six.

Or this one from the matchup between the Chiefs and Bills late in the regular season.

You get the idea…

It even led to some visible frustration from his quarterback Patrick Mahomes:

Toney was sidelined during the playoffs due to what the team claimed was an injury, but Toney himself disputed that he was injured, which made for an awkward storyline as the Chiefs worked their way towards the Super Bowl win.

And Swifties think that one line in particular is a shot at the wide receiver.

“The Alchemy” features a lot of sports imagery, making fans think that it’s about her current love interest Kelce:

“Shirts off and your friends lift you up over their heads
Beer stickin’ to the floor, cheers chanted ’cause they said
There was no chance trying to be the greatest in the league
Where’s the trophy? He just comes runnin’ over to me”

But when they dug a little deeper, Swifties are convinced that another line is taking a shot at Toney’s case of the dropsies:

“So when I touch down
Call the amateurs and cut ’em from the team
Ditch the clowns, get the crown”

Of course it may just be a self-fulfilling prophecy from fans who were hoping for a KT diss track once the album was announced:

Either way, gotta think that Toney’s not happy having his horrific 2023 season brought back into the spotlight…
