New Jesse Daniel is coming soon.

The California native just announced his fourth studio album Countin’ The Miles is slated to drop everywhere on June 7th, his first project since signing with Nashville-based label Lightning Rod Records.

In addition, Daniel released a new single today called “Comin’ Apart At The Seams,” which features background vocals from Jon Randall and fiddle playing by the legendary Gene Elders (of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band), who sadly passed away shortly after recording.

Daniel says he wrote “Comin’ Apart At The Seams” about the “spirit of perseverance and earned toughness” he learned by growing up in rural California in a broken home:

“I wrote this song about my experience in life. It’s autobiographical and touches on the way my brothers and I grew up. Coming from a broken home, there were a lot of hurdles for us, but I see now that those hard lessons we learned so young were actually a blessing.

I wrote this one about the spirit of perseverance and the earned toughness that comes from an upbringing like we had. It’s the realization that no one is coming to save you. That’s on us to save ourselves.”

Countin’ The Miles was recorded at Austin’s Arlyn Studios, and features several other very talented musicians including pianist Ronnie Huckaby and the aforementioned Elders of George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band, as well as bassist Kevin Smith, who a longtime member of Willie Nelson’s Family Band.

Ben Haggard, son of country legend Merle Haggard, and Jodi Lyford, Daniel’s partner, bandmate and frequent co-writer, have vocal features on the album.

This album marks Daniel’s first go as sole producer:

“My fourth studio album ‘Countin’ The Miles’ drops June 7th. Making this record was my first step into the role as the sole producer.

I poured everything into it – countless hours were spent writing each song, arranging the instrumentation, rehearsing and hammering away in the studio to make this album what it is. It features multiple duets, an incredible band and my best collection of songs to date.

I am extremely proud of it.”

The California native is known for keeping the Bakersfield sound of country music alive and well, and this next release is shaping up to be another solid addition to his impressive catalog.

Daniel most recently released his fantastic record Beyond These Walls in 2021.
