Nolan Taylor Tips Cap To Fellow Up & Comer, Logan Halstead, with “Bluefoot” Cover

This Nolan Taylor cover of Logan Halstead’s “Bluefoot” is just what the doctor ordered today.

Originally written by Halstead, and officially recorded for the first time on his highly anticipated debut album Dark Black Coal this past spring, “Bluefoot” is a beautifully written song that Halstead had in his back pocket for quite sometime before its inclusion on the album. It has since become a fan favorite and a staple in the young West Virginia artist’s potent catalog, but for those who knew Halstead personally or perhaps had seen his live shows over the years, “Bluefoot” was already a modern Appalachian classic.

Up and coming artist Nolan Taylor, whose career has really begun to take reach new heights over the last year or so, in large part due to the semi-virality of his song “68,” has been running in the same circles, so to speak, as Halstead for yours now, and as a result, was privy to his songwriting prowess before the masses took note of his viral song “Dark Black Coal.” In a tip of the cap to Halstead’s songwriting expertise, Taylor released a cover of “Bluefoot” to Soundcloud over two years ago.

Ironically, in the caption, Taylor wrote the following:

“This track hits so hard you can hear the radio frequencies bleeding through. This is a beautifully written song written by my brother Logan Halstead. Check him out he’s the next big thing. Onward & upward.”

Some good foresight from Taylor there. Fast forward to the present, and both artists are rising stars within the Appalachian music scene, growing their national fan bases and experiencing success that may have seemed a bit far fetched at the time of Taylor’s Soundcloud recording.

You love to see artists supporting one another and spreading each others music, and that’s exactly what’s going on here. Taylor reiterated his sentiment in an Instagram post yesterday.

“My cover of my brother Logan Halstead’s amazing song “Bluefoot” comes out TONIGHT! I first covered it years ago and only had it on Soundcloud but now I’m happy to have it shared across all streaming platforms. This is such a brilliant song, I can’t talk about it enough.”

To experience the brilliance yourself, give Nolan Taylor’s cover of Logan Halstead’s “Bluefoot” a listen.

And listen to the original as well, for reference.

Both of these guys are incredibly talented artists that need to be one very country music fan’s radar. Here a couple more songs from each that I highly recommend everyone check out.
