From a field in Virginia to the Mother Church.
This week, viral sensation Oliver Anthony made his headlining debut at the Ryman Auditorium with his two-night run.
“Playing two nights in a row at the Ryman! I can’t believe this is real life. LOL.”
The “Rich Men North Of Richmond” singer made his Ryman Auditorium debut with two nights packing the historic Nashville venue. While the church pews were filled with fans of the artist, side stage, Anthony had some star-studded guests watching him perform.
Randy Travis in particular had high praises for the green artist.
“Lord, it’s good to know there’s still a few ole country boys around… Such a pleasure witnessing Oliver Anthony debut at the Mother Church, The Ryman last night.”
Travis shared a picture of the two backstages on Instagram:
Anthony grinned from ear to ear as he met the legend, sharing how much it meant to him that Travis was there in support of his musical career.
“I’ve been listening to Randy longer than I’ve been walking. Randy was my grandmother’s and mother’s absolute favorite growing up, and his music was all we ever listened to. He is a true legend and I’m still a little shook up just knowing I got to shake his hand.
Couldn’t have asked for a better Ryman debut show.”
Talk about a full circle moment from listening to Randy Travis as a child and then having him champion your sound all those years later. Oliver Anthony tipped his hat to Travis during his set by covering “Three Wooden Crosses,” and after the performance, Travis came out on stage to shake Anthony’s hand.
The moment is so pure as two musicians who respect each other come together to support one another. The crowd went wild as Travis entered and exited the stage.
