ESPN’s Robert Griffin III Got Into The Halloween Spirit By Rocking An Epic Harry Potter Costume At Work

Robert Griffin III cannot be contained. He couldn’t be as a Heisman Trophy winner at Baylor. Couldn’t be as the NFL’s 2012 Offensive Rookie of the Year. No way you’re going to stop him from rocking his Harry Potter Halloween costume to the office — even if said office is live TV/a stadium to cover college football.

An inspired play on words for his chosen Harry Potter house. I mean hey, you gotta spice things up somehow. Florida State wasn’t expected to be that threatened at Wake Forest as a three-touchdown favorite, and it’s largely played out that way.

RG3 is a charming rogue who ESPN is just letting cook with zero cap. Bless them for having the wherewithal to let Griffin be Griffin, because he’s one of the most interesting, fun talents in all of sports broadcasting.

I’d like to think Griffin posted this on X this morning and repeating that sort of mantra to himself as he geared up in his Gryffindor attire.

Griffin is the kind of guy who could honestly drop a profanity on-air — like I could’ve sworn FS1’s Eric Collins did today during the West Virginia-UCF game — and people would just be like, “LOL. Classic RG3!” OK maybe that’s a little bit of an exaggeration. Nevertheless, he’s built up so much goodwill in such a short time as a sportscaster.

Am I as out of pocket with my praise for this guy as RG3 was when he coined “Big Penix Energy” to describe the swagger of Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr? I don’t know. Maybe I’m on an island in my Robert Griffin III fandom, or part of a smaller club than I think. Whatever. The guy’s brilliant, and makes me want to tune in to any game he’s covering. That’s when you know someone’s killing it.
