Another solid single from Luke Grimes.

He announced earlier this week that his Pain Pills or Pews EP will be out everywhere next month on October 20th, which was produced by the great Dave Cobb, and today he released a song called “Burn.”

Co-written by Grimes, he sings about knowing a relationship is doomed from the start and accepting the fact that it’s eventually going to end and probably not end well.

Grimes actually co-wrote six of the songs on the forthcoming project, which includes previously released “No Horse To Ride,” “Oh Ohio,” “Playing On The Tracks” and a cover of Foy Vance’s “Hold On.”

In a post on Instagram a few days ago, he shared that he’s “so grateful” for everyone who has helped him make this country music dream a reality:

“I don’t deserve this. Full stop. Yet, here it is. Im so grateful to everyone who has helped me get here.

A dream of putting music out in the world and getting to share it live is now something of a reality. Thank you for listening and showing up.

‘Pain Pills or Pews EP’ out October 20th. Tour on sale Friday.”

The Yellowstone star you may know best as Kayce Dutton in the hit Paramount series has been in the process of starting his country music career for a bout a year or so now, previously writing with some of the best Nashville has to offer, like Brent Cobb and Jessi Alexander.

It caught my attention immediately when he mentioned legends like Johnny Cash, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson as musical inspirations, and every single he’s released so far has been solid, so I’m really looking forward to hearing all of the new songs on this project.

It’s no secret that transitioning from being an actor to a country music singer isn’t easy, and something most people can’t pull off, but I have loved his process for this whole record so far because it comes across like he is really taking this endeavor seriously.

Honestly, the least intriguing thing about this project so far for me has been the title of the new EP, which kinda sounds like something you’d get from an AI generator when looking to name a country album, but I digress…

If nothing else, Luke seems to have a very deep understanding of and respect for the genre, which is definitely a great starting point when it comes to writing and making music.
