Yesterday was a big day in Lincoln, Nebraska for volleyball, women’s sports, and Scotty McCreery.
On what was coined “Volleyball Day in Nebraska,” the Nebraska women’s volleyball team set their court up right in the middle of Memorial Stadium, which is usually reserved for Cornhusker football games. Doing so allowed for a world-record breaking night, and a performance of a lifetime for country music artist Scotty McCreery.
Nebraska’s volleyball squad defeated Omaha three sets to none in front of a jam-packed stadium of 92,003 fans, setting a world record for the highest attendance at a women’s sporting event ever.
McCreery was then set to play after the match concluded, and felt very grateful that Nebraska and their women’s volleyball team let him be a part of it all:
“Congrats to the Nebraska Volleyball Team on their win and setting the new world record. Those ladies are amazing athletes and it was exciting to watch their games.
I thank them for having me be a part of the event!”
92,003 fans 🤯
Last night, Nebraska volleyball broke the world record for the largest crowd at a women's sporting event. 📈
Once the historic volleyball match wrapped up, fans stuck around to watch Scotty McCreery play his number one hits, including the new single that he released back on August 18th titled “Cab In A Solo.”
It was the most people that the American Idol winner has ever played in front of, which had McCreery counting his blessings:
“That was something I will never forget. It’s the biggest crowd I’ve ever played in front of, and they were fantastic.
Hearing 92,003 people sing along and watching them dance and enjoy themselves is something I will never forget.”
The country music artist used the event to kick off his Scotty McCreery Fall Tour, which will travel all across the country from now until the beginning of December. He’ll also make an additional visit to North Carolina on October 19th to be inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame.
