The great Charlie Worsham has new music coming soon.

He just announced a five-track album called Compadres is due out on October 13th, and features some of his nearest and dearest collaborators and fiercest champions in Dierks Bentley, Luke Combs, Elle King, Kip Moore and Lainey Wilson.

The project was produced by The Cadillac Three frontman Jaren Johnston, and serves as a a musical statement of sorts from his supporters that Charlie Worsham will have his very well-deserved moment.

From his debut album Rubberband to his 2021 EP Sugarcane, Worsham’s solo discography is small but impressive, and the Mississippi native worked with everyone from Eric Church to Lainey Wilson, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban and many more.

Charlie is an incredibly talented musician, a former member of Old Crow Medicine Show, and has worked with some of the top artists in Nashville as a session musician, notably and more recently being part of Eric Church’s Heart & Soul triple record (though that was all recorded in the mountains of North Carolina, but you get the point).

He also tours as part of Dierks Bentley’s live band, and was honored with the 2022 ACM Award for Acoustic Guitar Player of the Year.

Charlie released the lead single from Compadres today, too, a reimagined version of his song “How I Learned To Pray,” which features Luke Combs.

He says the whole project was really a chance to celebrate the friendships he’s made in the music industry over the years, and he can’t wait for fans to hear each song:

“I’m so excited for the world to hear me sing ‘How I Learned To Pray’ alongside my buddy Luke Combs. The whole idea behind Compadres is to celebrate the friendships I’ve made through music over the past decade.

I think fans will be able to hear how much fun we had making this project, and I think they’ll also hear how each of these songs tells a different part of my story.

I’ve gotta give a shout-out to my Compadre-in-Chief, Jaren Johnston, for producing this project with me and pushing me to sing and play with more ferocity than ever before.”

“How I Learned To Pray” was originally included on Charlie’s 2013 Rubberband album, and was written by Charlie along with Jeremy Spillman and Ryan Tyndell.

I love the idea of reworking a tune that’s basically a decade old, and of course, bringing in his friend Luke will certainly help boost the streaming numbers and introduce him to a totally new and massive audience, which Charlie certainly deserves and has worked his ass off for.

And they sound absolutely incredible together, so make sure you give this one a spin today and mark October 13th on the calendar.

This is gonna be a good one.
