Can’t wait for this album.

Last week, it was announced that in honor of the The Judds’ 40th anniversary, a star-studded list of country artists are teaming up to release their versions of 14 of Naomi and Wynonna’s biggest hits in the form of a tribute album called A Tribute To The Judds.

The all-star tribute will feature tracks from names like Dolly Parton, Ashley McBryde, Carly Pearce, Cody Johnson, Ella Langley, Jamey Johnson, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, LeAnn Rimes, Megan Moroney, Molly Tuttle, Reba McEntire, Trisha Yearwood and a TON of others.

And today we got our first taste of the album – and it’s one of my favorite songs from The Judds.

Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani teamed up for a cover of “Love Is Alive,” the 1985 single from The Judds’ debut studio album Why Not Me. The song was the fourth chart-topper for The Judds, and one of eight straight singles to hit #1 on the charts.

Speaking on the cover, Blake said he and his wife wanted to keep it as close to the original as possible, and praised Gwen for her vocal performance:

“The Judds are one of the greatest country acts of our lifetime.  80’s country music is my favorite decade, and I’ve been singing Judd songs for as long as I can remember. ‘Love Is Alive’ was on their first album, and we wanted to stick pretty close to the original version and Gwen just nails the vocal. We’re thrilled to be part of this tribute album.”

And Gwen agreed, expressing her admiration for iconic country duo:

“I have always admired The Judds and I am so thrilled to be part of this album. “Love Is Alive” is an iconic track and performing the song with Blake is a perfect way to honor their timeless discography.”

The album drops on October 27, and comes on the heels of Wynonna wrapping up The Judds: The Final Tour, which became a tribute to her mother Naomi after her tragic death just before the tour was to kick off.

If this is any indication of what we have to look forward to from the rest of the album, I can’t wait to hear it.
