Lainey Wilson Plays Kick*ss Acoustic Set At Bank Of America Stadium After Her Band’s Equipment Gets Damaged By Lightning

The show must go on, and Lainey Wilson certainly put on a helluva show.

Luke Combs and company rolled into his home state of North Carolina this past weekend for two sold-out shows at Bank of America stadium, home of the Carolina Panthers, but the Saturday concert didn’t come without a few weather-related issues.

It was insanely hot and humid all day, so of course, a few summer thunderstorms rolled in late afternoon, with plenty of rain, thunder and lightning. Another one popped up later in the evening after Luke sang just one song and caused a massive lightning delay, which is a story for a whole other post.

And unfortunately, some of Lainey’s equipment got hit with a lightning strike and was too damaged to use, so she came out for her opening set with just an acoustic guitar, in tandem with one of her guitar players who also only had his acoustic guitar in-hand.

She of course put on an incredible show nonetheless, and I was thrilled to get to hear her play an acoustically in that kind of setting.

I don’t know if I’ll ever hear an acoustic set in a stadium ever again, so even though I hate it for her that so much of her equipment got damaged, I will always cherish getting to see her live and unplugged in that type of venue.

She sounded perfect, and crushed her performance even without her full band to fill the almost 75,000-seat stadium, which is a true testament to her superstar talent and why she’s an abolsute queen.

Here’s a little of “Heart Like A Truck,” with the crowd singing along to every dang word… you love to see it:

“We ain’t ever gonna let it rain on this parade…Charlotte, thank y’all for singin’ loud and proud with us.”

And a little “Watermelon Moonshine”:
