A little cross promotion never hurts, and it looks like the American Country Music Awards show called in a favor from the Dallas Cowboys to help sell tickets to their event.
Which makes sense considering the ACM awards show was held in Frisco, Texas, a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area. The country-music-NFL-crossover game that was spawned from the partnership was pretty entertaining.
Members of the Dallas Cowboys football team were presented with a phrase and all they had to do was determine if their owner, president, and general manager Jerry Jones said it, or if country music icon Dolly Parton said it. Pretty simple right?
Well, the players had a pretty difficult time getting the questions right…
The first player that shows up in the video is cornerback Trevon Diggs, who was asked who said:
“They got me busier than a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest.”
He answered Jerry Jones, but the correct answer was Dolly Parton.
Next up was Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott, who pulled out the slip of paper and read:
“The way I see it, if you want the rainbow, you got to put up with the rain.”
That one was an easy one, and Dak guessed correctly when he named the 10-time Grammy winner.
Tony Pollard, the running back for Dallas, was up next. His was:
“I just don’t have time to get old.”
He seemed pretty confident when he said Jerry Jones, but that was wrong once again. At this point, I thought it was a “trick question” game considering that every answer thus far had been Dolly Parton. However, that changed with Dak Prescott’s second turn:
“I want to officially close the window on closing the window.”
This time the QB answered Dolly, but it turned out to be Jerry Jones. Most Cowboys fans would have gotten that one right.
The next one called upon Dallas’ fan favorite former wide receiver Dez Bryant, who was rocking (and pulling off) a cowboy hat. Bryant reads:
“You’ll never do a whole lot unless you’re brave enough to try.”
I’ll admit, this one is a tough one, which is why Bryant guessed incorrectly when he thought the quote was from Jerry Jones. Turns out it was Dolly again!
To save some time, I’ll list the last two in the video just in case you were playing along, but you’ll want to watch the video below so you can see each player’s reaction.
“That muffled sound you here in New York is me screaming in that pillow.”
Jerry Jones said it.
“I have pretty good skin considering my age, and I think a lot of it is mineral oil and bacon grease.”
This legendary phrase was quoted from the legendary Dolly Parton.
