That was fast…

Morgan Wallen officially scored his ninth career #1 single at country radio with “Last Night,” from his behemoth of a 36-song studio album, One Thing At A Time.

According to radio insider Chris Owen, it took only 11 weeks to top the charts, and less than seven weeks from the time it was sent to country radio as an official single from the record.

It’s on top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart this week, which is one of two charts labels use to officially track their songs performance (along with Mediabase):

For comparisons sake, Morgan’s recent #1 single “You Proof” took 11 weeks from its impact date to top the Country Airplay chart, but it was within the Top 25 already when the label named it a single.

“Last Night” took 11 total weeks to reach the top spot, and less than seven weeks from the time the label officially sent it as a single, making it now his fastest-rising #1 radio hit to date:

Written by John Byron, Ashley Gorley, Jacob Kasher Hindlin, Ryan Vojtesak, “Last Night” is a breakup tune that finds Morgan leaning into more of his pop sensibilities with a solo acoustic guitar and prominent snaptrack driving the melody of the song.

And I’m not gonna sit here and tell you that it’s country by any stretch of the imagination, but it is pretty damn catchy, if I’m being honest… and it’s putting up some crazy streaming numbers, too, in addition to obviously being a hit at radio.

I’m still partial to the acoustic One Record At A Time Sessions version, though…
