Kip Moore fifth studio album Damn Love is out everywhere today.
And easily the song I was looking forward to hearing the most was his long-awaited duet with the great Ashley McBryde called “One Heartbeat.”
It’s actually the first duet Kip has ever done in an official capacity on a record, and after we were all blown away by Kip and Ashley’s duet of “Janie Blu” at The Ryman a couple years ago, fans had been begging for them to do something else and work together on another collab.
And today, he finally delivered, and of course, Ashley’s vocals sound great and definitely adds an important and interesting element to the song.
Of the new project as a whole, Kip says it’s exemplifies a progression within himself both in his career and personal life:
“Jaren Johnston and I kicked off this album after writing ‘Peace & Love,’ which helped create a theme for the rest of the record.
‘Damn Love’ comes from a combination of progression within myself and my career, and being emotionally raw, and the honesty that came along with some self-realization.
This record shares all the highs and lows throughout my life, and I hope those who listen can feel that.”
Remaining true to form, Kip is a co-writer on most of the songs on the tracklist, and it definitely has that overall sound of country mixed with heartland rock and meaningful lyrics that we’re used to getting from the Georgia native.
