Got July 4th plans yet?

Well if not, you may want to get down to Austin, Texas.

Ol’ Willie Nelson celebrated his favorite holiday by announcing the 2023 lineup for his 4th of July Picnic. And considering this will be the 50th anniversary since the concert’s inception in 1973, it makes sense that Willie went all out on this incredible lineup.

Taking place at Austin’s relatively new Q2 Stadium, home of the Austin FC Major League Soccer team, this year’s show will feature Particle Kid, Asleep at the Wheel, Sierra Ferrell, Shane Smith & the Saints, Shakey Graves, Dwight Yoakam, Tyler Childers, and of course, Willie Nelson.

The Picnic has had some killer lineups over the years, but this has to be one of the best.

Willie Nelson’s July 4th picnic began in 1973 with a legendary lineup in its own right, featuring Waylon Jennings, Kris Kristofferson, John Prine, and Tom T. Hall, among others. Throughout its history, the concert has been played in six different states, but has mostly taken place throughout Texas, and has called Austin home each year since 2015.

While the list of notable artists that have played the show is way too lengthy to cover in detail, the concert has featured some incredible acts throughout its 50 year tenure.

Lynyrd Skynyrd, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, The Highwaymen, Ernest Tubb, Emmylou Harris, Robert Earl Keen, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Isbell, Kacey Musgraves, Luke Combs, Sturgill Simpson, Colter Wall… the list goes on and on and on.

And since history is bound to repeat itself, and this lineup sure does look the part, I don’t think Willie Nelson’s 2023 4th of July Picnic is a show you’re going to want to miss.

In the meantime, check out some music from each of the acts taking the stage with Willie this year to get you ready.

Particle Kid – “Everything is Bullshit”

Asleep at the Wheel – “Miles and Miles of Texas”

Sierra Ferrell – “In Dreams”

Shane Smith & the Saints – “Oklahoma City”

Shakey Graves – “Tomorrow”

Dwight Yoakam – “Guitars, Cadillacs”

Tyler Childers – “Way Of The Triune God”

And of course…

Willie Nelson – “Always On My Mind”

Long live Willie Nelson.
