It just doesn’t get any better than this.
Taking the young lad out for a day of fishing is always great for making lasting memories, regardless of the outcome for the amount caught. That doesn’t mean that fathers aren’t hopeful that their kid hooks into a fish so big and spectacular that they will remember and be hooked for life.
It’s every fisherman’s dream to catch a fish like that, but to have it happen with your child is what ever father can dream of.
It just so happened that this family had that experience while out for a day of lake fishing. An 8-year old and his father were out for a fish in their boat on Minnesota’s Mille Lacs Lake when the kids rod just started whaling. ]
A big fish started striping line out as the father hustles to help his son…
As the father coaches and helps his kid through it, you can feel the excitement growing as it gets closer and closer to the boat.
As the dad grabs thee net, you know the kid is pumped up.
“Do we got him?”
As he wrestles this monster into the net and up in the boat, you can sense the relief.
“We got him!”
As the pair banter back in forth in excitement, it just melts a person’s heart and takes them right back to childhood with their father. This is what it’s all about.
The dad gets him to hold his big ol’ catch high up. Weighing over 50 pounds, the muskie is much bigger than the 8-year old who struggles to hold it for a picture.
I bet that pic will be hung on the wall for a while.
Young Boy Goes Nuts Watching Muskie Eat A Muskrat
You gotta love it.
A kid witnessing nature at work and just being absolutely amazed by it… it’s no secret why love for the outdoors generally starts at a young age.
And when it’s something this cool, it’s even better.
A muskrat isn’t exactly a small animal. By no means is it big, but it’s large for any fish to be after. They can weigh up to about 5 pounds but it’s not often fish get after animals that big.
Usually they would target another fish, but this muskie saw the opportunity and decided he was eaten good today.
The video starts with a young boy absolutely losing his mind as you notice a fair-sized muskie with a muskrat in its mouth on White Bear Lake, just outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“Okay, so this giant I don’t even know what is eating a freaking muskrat right now.”
“Dude, its under the dock. Holy crap!”
Innocence and pure joy.
I think these boys need to tie on some bigger bait and try to catch one of these monsters.
The musky swims back and forth waiting for the muskrat to have its last breath. You don’t see it swallow it, but I can say with almost certainty that this muskrat met his maker with grip the big predator fish had on him.
There’s a fishing memory these young bucks will remember forever and will probably keep them running back to the water for years to come.
Nature is awesome, even when it’s a little violent.
