This is the way you give back to your community.

Not with cameras everywhere, not patting yourself on the back in a press release how charitable you are, and not filming it for TikTok so you can get some more likes for your page.

But by simply showing up and using your gifts to help the less fortunate.

That’s exactly what legendary rocker and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl did recently for a Los Angeles homeless shelter when he showed up with his smokers and meat in tow, ready to cook some barbeque for those who depend on Hope the Mission for their next meal.

According to President and CFO of Hope the Mission Rowan Vansleve, who wasn’t at the shelter at the time, Grohl showed up around 6 PM last Wednesday to start preparing dinner – for the next night.

“He turns up at 6 p.m., and this meat truck gets delivered. And it’s like an obscene amount of food.

It’s unbelievable, the guy spent thousands of dollars. And he is in there by himself in our little food-prep area, trimming the fat off, making sure every single one’s perfect. He’s got all of his mates together. They’re backing in these giant smokers.”

Grohl finally got the smokers fired up just before midnight, and tended to his BBQ all night as he cooked up ribs, pork butt and brisket, along with the sides to go with them.

Oh, and he did all this while the area was being hit with a massive rain storm overnight.

When it finally came time to eat, Grohl’s family and friends showed up to help him serve the meals, feeding around 500 people at his giant cookout.

And Grohl is apparently quite the barbeque chef, even opening his own catering company, Backbeat BBQ, and selling his merch on the Foo Fighters’ shop. (Seems like a missed opportunity to not call it the Best of ‘Que, but I digress).

According to Vansleve, Grohl even cleaned up the kitchen at the Mission after he was finished, and asked about returning to do it all over again.

What a guy.
