Bold strategy Cotton.

We’re getting close to that hard water season in here in Wisconsin, with folks up in the Northwoods already seeing thick enough ice. Here in the southern portion of the state, where I live, it hasn’t quite been cold enough yet.

Of course, if you live in the southern portion of the country, ice fishing is a completely foreign concept. In the south, folks shuts down schools when there’s a flurry in the air, and if it does get below freezing, you won’t be able to find bread or milk in sight at a grocery store. Old school apocalyptic when the weather gets bad…

Anyways, back to ice fishing.

Even if you’ve never fished on the ice before, it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know this guy messed up big time. Any idiot knows that in order to go ice fishing, you need… ice. According toĀ We Are Green Bay, a Barron County, Wisconsin, man was trying to beat the crowd for ice fishing, and had the “bright” idea of trying to back his ice shack onto the lake.

One problem? The lake wasn’t even close to being completely frozen over. Needless to say, he got his ice shack and his truck stuck in the middle of the lake. Yep, he copped a nice little “Operating While Intoxicated (OWI)” charge from the cops… just incase you haven’t figured out there had to be alcohol involved in order for this to happen.

I can guarantee ya one thing, he immediately regretted this decision. Now he’s down a truck, an ice shack, and his dignity.

Barron County Sheriff’s Department released the following statement to Facebook:

“We want everyone to know that the driver was ok and unhurt. Alcohol was a contributing factor to this case and we take these very serious because these type of offenses are preventable.

Look, OK yeah it got below freezing the last couple nights, and OK yeah the frost has made an appearance, and sure we love ice fishing as much as everyone elseā€¦ BUT, and this is importantā€¦. THE. ICE. IS. NOT. READY. YET.

Please keep the shacks at home for the time being, letā€™s enjoy fall while itā€™s still here yeah? We will have plenty of time to freeze our butts off in the dead of winter.

And yes, alcohol was a factor in this crash for those wondering, in fact it was the 3rd OWI incident for the night. Cā€™mon now.”

Whoops…
