What a guy…

NBA legend Michael Jordan is giving back in a huge way ahead of his 60th birthday this Friday, by donating a whopping $10 million to the Make-A-Wish foundation.

He’s worked with the organization since 1989, which helps dreams come true for children with critical illnesses.

Of the donation, Jordan says he couldn’t think of a better birthday present than playing a part in changing the lives of these children who have been through so much at very young ages:

“I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true.”

The organization shared the news in a post on Instagram, adding that it’s the largest gift from an individual in the 43-year history since Make-A-Wish has existed:

“Basketball legend Michael Jordan knows the power of a wish. In honor of his 60th birthday on Feb. 17, he’s making a record-setting donation of $10 million to Make-A-Wish America!

The gift – the largest from an individual in our 43-year history – is Jordan’s latest show of commitment to Make-A-Wish, which he has actively supported since his first wish in 1989.

Jordan is donating to Make-A-Wish in order to inspire others to help us expand access to life-changing wishes in more local communities throughout the U.S. Take MJ’s lead and donate in his honor to make more wishes possible at link in bio. #MJWish #MichaelJordan #MJ.”

It’s no secret that MJ is a billionaire and certainly has done well for himself, building a basketball legacy and shoe empire on top of it, but it’s cool to see him giving back in a big way like this, especially on his own birthday, in addition to encouraging others to do the same.

An all-time GOAT move:

The basketball icon will also be the subject of Air, a movie that will document Nike’s pursuit of Michael Jordan after he came out of the University of North Carolina back in 1984, and how his signing helped Nike’s rise to the top of the shoe game for good.

The movie will star Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, Jason Bateman, Chris Tucker, Viola Davis, and Marlon Wayans to cap a top tier cast.

Affleck plays Nike co-founder Phil Knight, and Damon plays shoe salesman Sonny Vaccaro.

Air was unveiled in the spring of last year, and is slated to drop on April 25th in theaters across the country.
