Talk about rock and roll royalty…

Dolly Parton is pulling out all the stops for her forthcoming rock album, Rock Star, and it’s a helluva lineup if I’ve ever seen one.

She previously reveled in an interview with Jimmy Fallon, that she’ll be covering songs like the Rolling Stones classic “Satisfaction,” as well as Prince’s “Purple Rain,” Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven” and even Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird.”

Basically, it’s gonna be STACKED with rock standards and classics:

“It’s gonna come out next Fall, and you know what I’m callin’ it… ‘Rock Star’ is the name of it. Well actually, I am gonna have some cameo people and a few originals.

We’re gonna have a lot of great iconic songs, like ‘Purple Rain,’ ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction,’ ‘Stairway to Heaven,’ and ‘Free Bird,’ I even did ‘Free Bird.’ But I’m gonna have a few guest artists.”

And during a recent appearance on The View, she revealed that Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler, former Journey singer Steve Perry, Paul McCartney, John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks and possibly Cher, will all be featured artist on the tracklist:

“We’ve got a lot of great artists, iconic singers, that are gonna actually be on with us. So I’m looking forward to it, I’m even gonna have Cher on!

I’ve been getting a song for her, we’ve been trying to get the right thing together. But that’s gonna be a big thrill.”

Like I said, a who’s who list rock and roll royalty…

John even recently shared a photo of them putting in some work in the studio:

In addition, instead of getting her friend Mick Jagger to sing on “Satisfaction,” Dolly says it’s likely that Pink and Brandi Carlile will be joining her for a cover:

“I’m doing my best to try to get him on! But I did his song, anyway.”

How Mick Jagger could say no to Dolly is beyond me…

Either way, though, it’s gonna be a really cool project, and I can’t wait to hear everything Dolly’s been cookin’ up in the studio with these rock legends.
