Well by God, this might be one of the most moving duets I’ve heard in a hot minute.
Tanner Usrey is a name you need to have on your radar, if you don’t already.
Most known for his hit song “Come Back Down,” off of his lone EP Medicine Man, the guy knows how to tug at the heart strings with his big voice, deep-cutting and relatable lyrics.
Another one of his hits, titled “Beautiful Lies,” is a moving song about a relationship that’s coming to an end.
That’s when, Graycie York, another incredibly talented up-and-comer in the Texas country music scene, put together her own rendition of the song, which really brings a powerful new dynamic to the song.
That’s when Usrey knew that the two had to sing the song together.
He weighed in on the decision:
“The first time I heard Graycie do her version of ‘Beautiful Lies’ I told her that it was her song now because of how amazing she sang it, and every time we got the chance to sing the song live, people loved it. This has been a joke between her and I for a while now until I decided it was time to just do it.
Having Graycie and adding a female perspective really adds a completely different side to the story than what I was originally trying to tell. Instead of it just being a one-sided point of view about a failed relationship it changes it into two, and it kind of makes you question who is ACTUALLY leaving now? Unlike in the original.
It adds more depth, and I think that it is a more mature version of the song that I have been wanting to do for a while now, and getting to work with Graycie is always a great time.
She and I have been talking about doing this for so long now, so I am excited for y’all to hear this new take on one of my favorite songs that I’ve written. Oh, and be on the lookout for new music soon.”
With that being said, the two came together and KILLED IT.
The video officially drops tomorrow, but you can hear it right here FIRST.
