The age old question… Waffle House vs IHOP.

One specializes in waffles, one specializes in pancakes… but either way, everybody has a favorite, and most will fight HARD to defend the honor of their favorite shithole breakfast joint.

And while we can argue the merits of each until we’re blue in the face, IHOP just dropped the ace of spades…

Alcohol.

I mean seriously, who doesn’t want to pound a few mimosas while eating chicken and waffles at brunch? Is it even brunch if you don’t have a buzz going?

Well, according to Food & Wine, this dream is finally turning into a reality…

The chain announced today that they will be adding their brand new “Bubbles, Wine & Brews” to the menu.

Jay Johns, president of IHOP, had this to say:

“Our recent ‘Drinks and Dining Survey’ of Americans unveiled that 66 percent of our younger guests (ages 21-34) have been craving an alcoholic beverage to accompany some of their IHOP favorites.

With dining out regularly returning to American’s routines across the country, it’s the perfect time to launch this offering and gauge excitement from our guests about the new selections.

As we continue to focus and expand on our daytime and evening menu options, adult beverages offer a terrific innovation and evolution to enjoy IHOP for every occasion.”

The chain has partnered with the likes of E & J Gallo Winery to offer Barefoot Bubbly Brut, Barefoot Bubbly Chardonnay, and Barefoot Cabernet Sauvignon.

The beers will include Bud Light, Blue Moon, and Corona, and they’re even considering partnering with local breweries at some locations.

And as far as Waffle House goes, I know everybody will say that there is no way they should be selling MORE alcohol to the rip-shit drunk fools that stumble into every Waffle House in America at 2 in the morning. But there’s a very easy solution… cut off alcohol at 10pm. Hard stop, easy peasy.

Your move Waffle House.

Then again, you can’t get this at IHOP…
