Some real country music is coming to the Idol stage.

I’m not going to lie, I haven’t watched this season of American Idol but we have been keeping up with some stellar country music performances that have taken place on the show throughout this season.

Starting with 15 year old Triston Harper singing “Cover Me Up”, to the run Loretta Lynn’s granddaughter Emmy Russel made, to Jelly Roll’s guest coaching appearance, it honestly seemed like a pretty solid season and it might have been worth it to watch.

Well, I just got a press release which is going to make a whole bunch of country loving people tune in for the season finale this Sunday.

Cody Johnson, who’s nominated for Entertainer of the Year at tomorrow night’s ACM Awards, will be performing along with a slew of other guests which include Jon Bon Jovi and Hootie & the Blowfish.

There’s no word on whether he’ll be performing his current radio single “Dirt Cheap”, one of his two number ones (“Til You Can’t” and “The Painter”), or a cover, but regardless, I’m sure it’s going to be great.

Gotta love Cody getting his mainstream shine after years of working the Texas scene. While you definitely don’t need the industry to pick you up these day to have a career, it sure is nice to see the good guys win.
