Sad news out of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. Last night, a man was killed in a car accident which involved the tour bus of American Idol alum Alex Miller. The incident happened around 10:30 p.m. on South Wildness Road, according to Kentucky State Police.

WKYT Lexington also reports that James Mcpheron (58) lost control of his vehicle and drove into the lane of a 1997 Vanhool tour bus driven by Roger Miller (who is presumably the father of Alex). Mcpheron was taken to Rockcastle Regional Hospital where he later died. The crash is still being investigated by state police.

Miller posted a statement to his social media accounts, sending thoughts and prayers to the family of the deceased:

“While traveling back from a vacation, country recording star Alex Miller and several members of his band were on a bus that was hit by a car. Sadly, the driver of the car is deceased. Alex sends his thoughts and prayers to the gentleman and his family. No on on the bus was injured. Kentucky State Police are investigating.”

RIP.

Miller was featured on American Idol, Season 19 in 2021, and followed up his time on the show with the release of a debut album Miller Time in 2022, followed by his Country EP last year.
