A security camera at a house in Delaware captured a quick, but chaotic, scene when a raptor bird found a quick meal literally laying on the steps one sunny afternoon.
Raptor birds are a catch all term for birds of prey such as falcons, owls, hawks, and eagles, and while the video is hard to see, I believe this is a Cooper’s Hawk, which is a medium sized hawk which are notoriously agile.
Well, the video shows a small bird flying near top speed and suddenly crashing into a glass door to the house. Whether it was fleeing the raptor or just looking for food, we’ll never know, but either way the bird was knocked unconscious by the collision, and things quickly went from bad to worse.
Seemingly out of nowhere, the raptor swoops down, scoops up the lifeless bird, and flies it away to have itself a meal.
If you blink you may miss the whole thing, which proves how thin the line between life and death is in the wild.
Even in Delaware, there’s always nature around if you know where to look, and if you’re lucky, it may literally fly right into your view.
