Dolly Parton may be the closest thing we have to an angel on this earth.
Meeting the 77-year old superstar is probably something that a lot of people have on their bucket list. But one man whose time on earth is coming to an end was able to cross it off thanks to the kindness of the Queen of Country Music.
LeGrand “LG” Gold has been battling colon cancer for two years. But he recently got some devastating news during a doctor’s appointment:
“About three weeks ago the scan showed the cancer spreading and getting outside of my liver, and so they said the chemotherapy is not working anymore, the radiation is not working anymore. They just sent me home and said be with your family.”
So when he got home, he wrote out his bucket list on a napkin – including his wish to meet Dolly Parton:
“I would just say, ‘Dolly, you’ve helped me through the last two years, and it’d mean a lot to meet you.'”
Well Dolly got wind of the Orem, Utah man’s story – and his wish – and like the angel that she is, Dolly made it come true.
Video from Gold’s family shows LG receiving the call from Dolly Parton herself:
“Hey LG, it’s Dolly P. I’ve heard you’ve been a fan of mine for many years, and I just wanted to thank you for that.”
And Dolly even serenaded him with his own song:
“And I will always love you, I will always love LG”
It was a bucket list moment for LG, one that managed to lift his spirits in the dark times:
“She sang me a song, put my name in the song. I feel like I’m immortal now.”
