I’m pretty sure this is how I sound after a few too many on karaoke night…
Regardless of how many times you’ve heard it and how many times you’ve swore you don’t want to hear it again, Chris Stapleton’s version of “Tennessee Whiskey” just hits.
Written by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove and originally recorded as the title track of David Allan Coe’s 1981 album, the song was covered by number of artists, including George Jones whose version went to number 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart, but it wasn’t until Chris Stapleton took a stab at it and performed it with Justin Timberlake at the 2015 CMA Awards that it became the smash hit we all know it as.
It’s now certified 14x Platinum by RIAA and you’re pretty much guarantied to hear it played at least once anytime there’s live music or a jukebox at a bar.
Well, it turns out that it’s not just humans that really love this song…
A video went viral a few years ago and is making the rounds yet again which shows an American Bulldog named Tank absolutely getting down to some “Tennessee Whiskey”.
Tank’s owner starts the video by putting on some Cardi B and Tank is less than enthused, but the second she asks Alexa to play his favorite song, you see his ears perk up and he starts taking some deep breaths to hit the high notes.
As soon as the iconic opening guitar notes are played, Tank unleashes into some almost in tune howls that pretty much show how we all feel after a couple shots of Jack when this baby come on at the dive bar. It’s a video you can always come back to if you’re feeling a bit down to get a smile on your face.
Big shoutout to Tank and his owner for raising him right.
